Alıntı YapHey everyone, CrazyRedPraetorian here with some of my thoughts on all of the rumors that are popping up.
First of all, I think it is normal for people to be leery of change. Most people like familiar things. Guys are especially protective over their old belongings and surroundings - and let's face it, most 40K players are guys. Favorite old Chucks, favorite T-shirt, favorite old chair,  favorite games, etc... old school is an affectionate term, after all. People in general don't like change when they are comfortable. 5th Edition is like a pair of old Chucks, but Chucks do wear out. Well, it is time for a change... or is it?

I've read some of the moaning and groaning from the community about the alleged similarities to WFB 8th Edition. WFB 8th Edition was not a popular change in my local community. In fact, it almost killed  WFB here. Well, all of this got me to thinking: what if the worst rumors are true? Will I jump ship? I can honestly say that I will not. I enjoy the fluff, the modeling, and most of all the community aspects of the hobby far too much to quit. What can I say? I'm hardcore.

What will most members of the community do? I think the Fluff Bunnies will stand firm and enjoy the changes... unless they let Matt Ward write all the fluff. That could get ugly. Moving on... I think we will see a ton of WAACers migrate to other systems. Casual gamers will have mixed reactions, I think.

But, what about the TIMHys (pronounced Timmys)? What is a TIMHy you ask? TIMHys are Totally Into Math Hammer. These guys - and gals - are not necessarily WAACers but, they are far too serious about gaming to be called casual gamers. TIMHys are in every gaming group. Some gaming groups consist entirely of TIMHys. You may even be a TIMHy yourself. TIMHys build very lean, efficient lists, not to be a douche or strictly to win. It's just that their brains work that way. Some even struggle when trying to build a fluffy hobby list. I'm very familiar with TIMHys, many of my friends are TIMHys.

TIMHys have become a large portion of GW's US sales. The question is what will the TIMHys do? Will they find a new game? Will they stick around and deal with the rumored randomness? Or will they put on their own modified 5th ED tournaments? Did I mention that many TIMHys are over achievers?

If the worst were to happen, and 6th Edition is not "competitve friendly"would you abandon the game entirely, make the transition to 6th, or keep playing 5th Edition?  That is something I never understood about the WFB 7th Edition to 8th  Edition switch. Why didn't the players just refuse to accept what they considered an inferior product? Why would they give up on a hobby they loved? I know GW is not literally the hobby. However, for many players the IGT scene is a large part of the hobby. Why give that large community up?

Personally, I look forward to the change... which is funny because I'm old and ornery, and don't usually like change. But, I think this will be very interesting, and I have some ideas of my own  about what GW might be springing on us in the next few years. I think times are going to be very interesting, indeed. So, hang in there fellow hobbyist we're in for some interesting times.

If the rumors are true, will you stay or will you go? There is already an IGT circuit. Why not an IGT rules set based on the much loved 5th Edition rules if 6th Ed is not competition friendly? As always thanks for reading!
CRP out!!!

Abi bu TIMHy çok iiymiş! :)

Alıntı YapGoatboy here again - Today is another 6th edition chat as I keep reading about rumors and chewing on morsels and tidbits. So with that in mind lets just get this over with - I am loving the new rumors.

Look we all know I have gotten tired of 5th. The games feel the same and it takes a match involving multiple avenues for "winning" to become exciting for me. Making your army work is where I start to enjoy the game and lately some of these events have pushed the "win" one mission a bit too much. This has left me wanting more in my games and has contributed to my overall feeling of "meh" in 5th edition. So with that in mind the ideas presented in the rumors excite me as I get to play a new game. It also is exciting because I feel everyone will get to start together pushing and breaking the boundaries represented in the new batch of rules.

First of all I keep hearing that something makes Nids a top tier army. This past Adepticon the championship did not have a single Nid player in it. In fact a lot of old Nid players were upset that they chose a different avenue this year instead of sticking it to the math hammer man with Nids. Anything that breaks the stalemate of marine on marine violence is a good thing. Heck those new models are hot as hell looking and I just want to see more Nids on the table top (plus making me create my army that is right now sitting in boxes and on sprues). I also hope this tweak fixes some of the other Xenos armies and we start to see a gibbering horde rushing across the board and causing the marines to pee out of their second artificial waste hole.

The biggest thing that comes to mind from these rumors is the addition of a true set of psychic powers. This sounds awesome as it creates new avenues of game play. The idea that they are pulling in all these extra set of rules/fluff is pretty awesome to me. I have read some of the books (suffered heh) and a lot of these ideas and powers sound awesome to have in the "real" game of 40k. I just hope the mechanism works well enough as we are pretty well locked into how powers activate at this time. A power pool might be neat but I still feel the overall structure of the turn will stay the same - so look for powers to happen in different phases of the game instead of in one magical "super phase".

The percentages are a weird rumor that I am not completely sure about. They don't seem to affect most of my armies as I have moved away from a reliance on none troop choices to get my jobs done. This idea pushes the armies with choices that activate new troops to the fore front as it is pretty obvious troops are still going to be extremely important in the next edition. Some of the older books might get a swift kick to the dingus so we will see if that rumor stays true when we get our hands on an oversized book of fluff, rules, and war mongering.

Premeasuring is most likely coming into the game and I am glad for it. How many times have we argued about someone being in range to punch you in the face? Or how about the times that you swore the person was over 12 inches away, but lo and behold they somehow got within 12 inches during the fidgeting/moving phase. This will help alleviate those arguments as well as allow the game to move faster. It will also allow new players to catch up with some of the seasoned pros who know 12 inches fairly well.

I am also excited about the rumors of vehicle changes and how they are damaged. It appears that each roll on the table causes hull damage - with the results adding up to some kind of destruction. I am not show how this will work - if it is something that is only per phase (ie just during that particular shooting phase) or if they stick and stay on the vehicle throughout the game. It makes me think it might only be a per phase/turn sort of thing as I feel having all your vehicles covered in dice could be annoying. If it only lasted per phase it would probably be just fine power wise. It would mean you would have to pour damage into the unit on that turn instead of only peppering it bit by bit throughout the phase. If the Hull thing turns out true then we have to know if Extra Armor means you ignore those rolls or if they still count towards the total. Heck, demonic possesesion might become extremely important if they allow for those hull damaging shots to be ignored. It also makes the Necron Living Metal ability a lot more interesting.

The biggest thing that excites me about this new game is that the fluff is moving forward. I am very excited to continue the story of the Corpse Emperor and the evil forces of evil that don't like his brand of happy fun times. The rumored push of Tau is an odd one but heck I won't truly judge until my greasy hooves grasp the book later on this year. Hell the story is one of the reasons I stay in this game.

So what is causing so much unease? Games change, things move forward, and hopefully we get some more years with kick ass models and bad ass games. I am going to wait until I get the actual to truly do a yeah or meh type of review and right now everything is just sounding interesting enough to keep me reading each and every rumor.

40K'da Challange hakkında bir şeyler:

Alıntı YapFirst of all, the earlier set of 6th rumors from last week mentioned that challenges are coming our way for Warhammer 40,000 6th edition.  Talk says this is the same type of "your IC challenges the opponent's IC" and shenanigans ensue like we see in Fantasy.

So first off, hey, this one also is in line with the "stuff from Fantasy is coming to a 40k game near you" trend that keeps showing up, over and over and over.  Now in fantasy, if the "challengee" refuses his opponent he flees out of base to base, and can't fight that phase.  Anyone want to take bets on whether that's making its way over to 40k as well?

Next up, we have further word that the new Chaos Marine codex has a reference to these rumored challenge rules and everyone's favorite arrogant duelist extraordinaire Lucius the Eternal gets some snazzy special rules to make him even better at it than your garden variety IC.

- Bunker, vb. terrain feature almak fikrini acayip sevdim. Hani Machine gun ve autocannon nest falan ciddi havalı olabilir.

The latest 6th rumors breaking all over say:

-Look for random game length to head into history.
-That random terrain a la fantasy is only the beginning - look for being able to not only purchase a select group of terrain options for your army lists (bunkers, trenches, etc...) but....

wait for it...

-Template weapons are said to have the ability to SET TERRAIN AFLAME!!!!

-In the Games Workshop "hidden in plain sight" department there is word that all 5th Edition rulebooks will get pulled from shelves this upcoming week.  There is normally a 30 day window between old obsolete product being pulled and its replacement arriving on store shelves.  If I owned a game company, I certainly wouldn't want my primary game system to sit on shelves without a rulebook for too long...

- Finally there is word that an initial set of 6th product codes will become available for retailer ordering late June, including "new rulebook, templates, dice and either markers or cards for psychic powers"

Alıntı YapClose Combat weapons will now have an AP value:

    Chainfists: AP1
    Powerfists: AP2
    Power Weapons: AP3

Hmmm, if you all recall from January's "Orphan Ruleset" assault weapons had an AP as well.  Maybe that ruleset was indeed an early playtest of 6th.

Çok çok güzeldi bu fikir. Farklı CC silahların AP'sinin olması acayip mantıklı ve eğlenceliydi. Haydi bakalım.
